Predominately evacuation chairs are designed to facilitate the evacuation of less able persons from a building with stairways.
Scenario: Building needs to be evacuated!
Less able persons who have difficulty walking but are not wheelchair bound will most likely to be able to use the fire exit under their own steam or with some assistance – but what about the wheelchair users?
Unless ChairMate is on the premises it will be necessary to deploy a conventional evacuation chair and lift the person from their wheelchair into the evacuation chair to get them downstairs.
Who in your organisation and how many are trained in this technique?
